Engagement
Every engagement begins with a Discovery — a paid, fixed-fee piece of work, typically two to four weeks. The output is a written memo that assesses the opportunity and recommends a path. There are no obligations beyond the Discovery. About one in three Discoveries result in a build engagement. The rest end with a clear recommendation that we are not the right partner, or that the timing is wrong, or that the opportunity is real but smaller than expected.
No. Forty-five minute introductory calls are free. Any work that produces a written output, an assessment, or a recommendation is paid. This protects the quality of the work and the integrity of the recommendation. Free strategic work is, in our experience, strategic work that no one acts on.
Discovery engagements are fixed fee, scoped at the start, typically R150,000 to R350,000 depending on complexity. Blueprint engagements are also fixed fee, typically R350,000 to R750,000. Build engagements are milestone-based, costed once the Blueprint is complete. Retainers for Go-to-Market and Scale are monthly. We do not quote on Build before we have done the Blueprint, because to do so would be to guess.
You do. The codebase, the design files, the brand assets, the documentation, the commercial blueprint — all of it transfers to you on payment of the relevant invoice. We retain no licence, no exclusivity, no kill-switch. If we part ways, you keep what you paid for.
Yes, before any work that involves confidential business information. Our standard mutual NDA can be sent on request, or we will sign yours.
Build
Our default stack is Next.js, React, TypeScript, Supabase (Postgres + auth), Vercel for hosting, Sanity for structured content, Stripe and PayFast for payments, HubSpot for CRM, Resend for email, Twilio for SMS and WhatsApp, and Anthropic Claude for AI. We deviate when there is a real reason to deviate. We do not deviate for novelty.
Rarely. For most products, a Progressive Web App delivers the same user experience without the app-store overhead. For products that genuinely need native — typically because of background sync, hardware access, or distribution requirements — we will recommend a partner.
An MVP — the smallest version that proves the business case — is typically eight to fourteen weeks once the Blueprint is signed off. A full production product is typically four to nine months. Programme platforms (for institutional partners) can run twelve to twenty-four months.
No. Every Flowuity engagement is scoped, fixed in shape, and milestone-based. We do not bill by the hour. The reasons are commercial: hourly billing rewards inefficiency, penalises judgement, and aligns no one with the outcome.
Industries & Geography
We work across thirty industries, from heavy industry and mining through enterprise services, retail and health, the public and social sector, and emerging categories like fintech and AI-native products. We are not a sector specialist. We are a productisation specialist who has worked in many sectors.
Cape Town, South Africa. We work across South Africa, the rest of Africa, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States. Most engagements run hybrid — some days on site, the rest remote.
Yes, but only through institutional partners — government departments, DFIs, corporate ED and CSI partners, and NGOs. We do not take on direct work from individual small businesses. The economics do not work for either side.
Investment & M&A
Selectively. We are interested in capital partners who understand a software-first practice and who can support our model — patient capital, aligned with long horizons, with appetite for both client services and our own product portfolio. If you are an investor and want to discuss, request an Investor Briefing through the contact router.
Possibly. We hold a portfolio of products at various stages, some of which are at the point where outside capital or acquisition is appropriate. These conversations happen under NDA. Request a Formal Briefing to begin.
Yes. This is the standard Product Commercialisation engagement. We build, you own, we maintain on retainer. The IP, the codebase, the brand, the customer relationships — all yours.
Working with us
Pick the door that fits — Business Owner, Founder, Investor, M&A, Channel Partner, or Government / Institutional Partner. Each leads to a short, route-specific intake and a meeting on the calendar within three working days.
Closely. We are not a black-box agency. We embed with your operators, your developers, your marketing leads, and your leadership. The handover at the end of an engagement is a graduation, not a wall.
Then we work alongside it. Many of our engagements involve a Flowuity team designing and building the spine, with the in-house team taking ownership over time. This is, by design, the cheapest and most sustainable path for clients with capability.
The next best step is a conversation. Forty-five minutes, no deck, no pitch.
